Supported Employment

If you are a person with a disability who would like to work but feel you are not ready to work in the general workforce, think about the supportive work environment that we offer.

You will be paid a fortnightly wage and can work on a variety of tasks. We offer all starting employees 2 days of work per week. The work day starts at 9am and finishes at 3:30pm.

We provide on the job support and training to help you learn your job.

We set up a personal employment plan with you that looks at your training needs and the type of jobs that you want to do.

We will work with you all the time to help you achieve success in your personal employment plan.

You can also choose to learn life skills such as cooking, cleaning and reading in addition to learning your normal job.

Self Help Workplace is looking for an energetic, commercially astute leader to manage Merit Commercial Solutions and Encore Clothing.

Key responsibilities include:

  • supervising and supporting staff, supported employees (adults with disability) and volunteers
  • managing the commercial work for the two business units including: customer support, inventory/stock control, scheduling and quality
  • pursuing opportunities for growth, innovation and productivity
  • maintaining a safe and productive workplace

Essential Skills and Experience

  • 1.     Management of commercial contracts

  • 3.     Production processes (such as LEAN)
